May 9 is a triple holiday - the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (the Armenians of Artsakh were directly involved in World War II), Shoushi Liberation Day and Foundation Day of the Defense Army of Artsakh. The military parade is held in the Renaissance Square, events and a variety of cultural and sporting events is hosted.
Independence Day (September 2) is considered one of the most solemn holidays. Festive events are held throughout the country. Every year on September 2nd in Renaissance Square is held a gala-concert with the participation of local and guest artists from Armenia and abroad. The holiday ends with fireworks.
Mulberry Festival: Every year on the third Saturday of June Mulberry (Toot) festival is held near Amaras monastery (Martouni region of NKR. Mulberry festival is considered to be one of the most popular events in Karabakh. It is held only one day, and during the whole event guests have the opportunity to taste and buy homemade vodka, doshab, dried mulberry etc. Artsakh skillful cookers are presenting methods and traditions of preparing doshab and mulberry vodka.
The “Tnjre” international classical music festival of young performers gathers famous and young musicians from Karabakh and all over the world in June. During the festival famous musicians from Germany, Italy, Finland, Netherlands and other countries organize master classes of piano, violin and clarinet for the inhabitants and guests of Artsakh. Concerts are held in the capital city and regional centers during the festival.
Harvest fair. The second Sunday of October is celebrated as the Day of Agriculture. Every year a Harvest Festival is organized this day in the Stepanakert Renaissance Square. More than 200 vendors from all the regions of Artsakh introduce their production to the thousands of visitors that attended the fair.
Artsakh Wine Festival is celebrated on the third Saturday of October and symbolizes the end of harvesting of grape. The fest is organized in the spirit of pastime, entertainment and rest. Festival guests are treated with famous Artsakh wine and delicious Artsakh cuisine. A harvest fair-exhibition, folk music concert, traditional games, handmade works exhibition are organized during the fest.
Religious holidays - Christmas and Christmas Eve – are celebrated with great enthusiasm. On these days are organized folk festivals, various religious and cultural events.
